Overseeing the general running of Tiles and Trims, from the background IT to monitoring customer sales – no two days are the same for David.

Before Tiles and Trims opened at the end of 2021, David Brundell had been with sister company Oceans Kitchens and Bathrooms since 2018.

David originally joined Oceans from a digital agency, supporting the general running of the business IT as well as leading on the business’ website marketing.  

Today, David also works on new product launches, identifying brands to partner with and building strong relationships with representatives from the likes of Bellota and Sigma.

As Tiles and Trims gears up for the unveiling of its new trade counter, David has been helping to prepare behind the scenes, liaising with brand reps for demos and product training with the technical team.

When it comes to new products David oversees the website content, ensuring the correct information is available to customers, from instruction documents to training videos.

A typical day at Tiles and Trims is quite fluid for David; sometimes he’s helping customers with their queries or monitoring the performance of the company website. He still works with Oceans, too, and splits his time between the two brands.

David even has a forklift truck driving licence, so he can help with moving and loading stock. Tiles and Trims also has a new office space which David did all the network cabling for.

He said: “The best thing about being an employee at Tiles and Trims is the fact that it’s family-run, as it really brings a personal feel to the working environment. It’s exciting to be involved with a new business in its early stages, too.

“There’s an opportunity here to develop relationships with tradespeople from different industries as well, something you might not necessarily get working for a larger retailer.

“Living in a small village in the foothills of the Clwydian Mountains, it’s great to work for a local company, and I’m a keen DIYer, so I’m always learning something new and interesting about tools and equipment.”  

Outside of work, David attends Everton’s home games with his eldest son, enjoys quality time with his family, and tries his hand at DIY. He is currently working on a project with one of his sons to build a radio-controlled boat from scratch.
